The Earth Commodities Bundaburg mine is located at Coonar Creek, Bundaberg. This highly productive sandmine comprises a site of 416 hectares, and operates under the local authority of the Burnett City Council. The product is a pure white material from the upper and lower levels of the site.
The product consists of silicon dioxide at about 99.8% of the sand, with traces of aluminium oxide and iron oxide.
There is no indication that contaminants such as shell or coral sand is present as no calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium have been detected.
This indicates that the Sand is a very pure product by international standards and coupled with the size distribution, contributes to a high level of differentiation.
The most recent estimates of available coarse sand put the volumes at approximately 480,000 tonnes.
